3 Series E30 Baur

Description

The BMW E30 Baur refers to a convertible model produced by the German coachbuilder Baur based on the BMW E30 platform, a highly regarded compact executive car manufactured by BMW from 1982 to 1994.

Baur, known for its convertible conversions, collaborated with BMW to create a unique convertible version of the BMW E30. The E30 Baur maintained the structural integrity of a coupe while offering a semi-convertible driving experience.

Similar to other Baur conversions, the E30 Baur featured a Targa-style roof design. It had a removable panel over the front seats and a foldable soft top at the rear, providing occupants with the option for open-air driving while retaining some of the structural strength of a fixed-roof coupe.

The E30 Baur's design allowed for versatility in driving experiences. It enabled occupants to enjoy the sensation of open-top motoring by either removing the front panel or folding down the rear soft top, offering a convertible-like experience while maintaining a level of rigidity akin to a coupe.

These Baur-converted E30 models, often referred to as the "Baur TC" or "Baur TopCabriolet," are prized by enthusiasts for their rarity, unique design, and the blend of coupe-like stability with convertible driving options. They represent a special niche within the BMW E30 lineup, offering a distinctive take on open-top motoring while maintaining the E30's driving dynamics and aesthetic appeal.
